Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of massage that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body caused by poor posture, repetitive activities, trauma, or even mental and emotional influences on the body.
Through slow strokes and deeper pressure on the muscle groups, chronic tension can be released.
Deep tissue massage as the name suggests, is just that and with particularly tight muscles may cause some slight discomfort during or after the massage. However this is temporary.
When muscles are stressed, oxygen and nutrients are blocked and this can lead to inflammation and a build up or toxins. A deep tissue massage helps to improve the circulation and release these, therefore, as with all massage, it is particularly important to drink plenty of water following treatment.
During the treatment
After the initial consultation, I shall give you time to undress and lay covered on the couch. Towels are used for draping to maintain warmth and modesty. As with all my massage treatments, I use an oil based medium. It is unscented but if you prefer, I can use a blend that will also help to relax and warm the muscles.
