Intimate Waxing – What you want to know

INTIMATE WAXING – What you want to know.

Male & Female Intimate waxing  ……

Your Questions answered …

How long should I leave my hair to grow? You need to have 4 weeks from your last wax or 3 weeks from your last shave for the best results. If less than this, you will not get the results you are hoping for.
The same applies if you use hair removal cream.
I realise how difficult it is to leave previously shaved hair to grow out, but it’s for the best when it comes to your waxing results! You should trim the hair if you have not been waxed before (or for a while) to around half inch long (12mm) it does not have to be exact, it is just to make the experience more comfortable for you. I can’t offer a trimming service I’m afraid and so this needs to be done prior to your appointment.

How long will the wax last?
If you have left the hair to grow for 4 weeks, you will get a couple of weeks hair free before you start to see any regrowth, which will be minimal compared with shaving. You won’t feel such prickly regrowth and you won’t feel like you need to be waxed for another couple of weeks (week 4). After your very first wax you may see regrowth a little sooner but after your third or fourth wax, your hair should be in the correct cycle to get a good couple of weeks hair free from each treatment. You will also find that regrowth will generally become finer if you continue with regular waxing.

Is there anything I should do prior to my first treatment?
Other than leaving the hair to come through, No shaving, No trimming, there is not really anything else you need to do, although if you are prone to ingrown hairs, you may wish to exfoliate every 2-3 days during the time you are waiting for the hair to grow, to minimise this.

Can I keep my underwear on when getting my wax?
No. I will need you to remove your underwear for intimate waxing. It is the only way to ensure all the hair is removed. It also makes the treatment quicker and less messy. I have had to experience it myself when learning, and so I do understand exactly how you feel, but honestly, please don’t worry about it.

How can I avoid being embarrassed then?
It’s natural to feel embarrassed at the thought of dropping your undies for a stranger, you just need to remember I am a professional. I am only looking at the hair that is to be removed, then removing it. If it helps you to know, I was nursing for many years prior to my training in both massage and then waxing. I don’t think there is anything you have that I haven’t seen before.

Is there anything I should do?
All you need to do is make sure your hair is long enough and you are clean. If you are prone to ingrown hairs, if you wish,  it may help to exfoliate a few days before your waxing, but not on the day.

Is there anything I must NOT do immediately after having my wax?
It is recommended that for the first 24 hours after your wax, you avoid any excess heat or heat treatments/activites such as saunas, sun beds, hot baths or showers, swimming pools, gym sessions etc. I have a list of aftercare instructions that you can take with you if required.

What is the process of the treatment?
I will first of all cleanse the skin, then if necessary, apply a little powder or oil. This helps to prevent the wax adhering to the skin. The wax is applied, and then removed along with the hair from the desired area.

How long does it take?
Most individual treatments take approx 40mins. you will also need to fill out a brief consultation prior to your first wax. If you are getting more than one body part waxed, it will obviously take longer.

How often will I have to get it done?
I would recommend for the perfect wax  that you return  every 4-5 weeks. Once you have been coming for a while you will notice a reduction in your hair growth providing you do not shave or use other means of hair removal in the meantime. This will mean you can then get waxed every 5-6 weeks depending on how much regrowth you have.

Does it hurt?
It is not entirely painless, and everyones pain threshold is different. However, the pain only lasts for a second or two when the hair is actually being removed and disappears quickly. Most people are actually surprised at how much better it is than they had anticipated.

Will I bleed?
At times you might notice a little blood spotting on the skin where the hair has been pulled out from the root, and some peoples skin is more sensitive than others, however, you will not continue to bleed after your treatment. I find that applying Sudocrem usually removes any redness and/or irritation within 24hours.

I am going on holiday soon, how many days before should I get waxed?
If you’re going somewhere sunny, I would recommend that you arrange your intimate waxing at least 24hours (48 if you have fair or sensitive skin) before you plan to sit in the sun.

Can I call you if I have any further questions?
You can call/email/text me, as many times as you like with as many questions as you like. I want to help you understand the process and for you to feel 100% comfortable with your visit.
